Philosophy and ApproachBiblical Counseling starts with one basic question: who best knows the human condition? Answer: our Creator God. God has spoken to us in the Bible and has revealed how we can live lives pleasing to Him in every aspect. In the Bible we find all of life's problems addressed either directly or in principle. Since God has spoken, we have an absolute standard for counseling directive. Biblical Counselors therefore view the Bible as the ultimate and final authority in all matters of faith and life.
Legitimate pyschological research (that which is based on observational science) can be helpful in providing insight into mind-body issues (e.g. learning styles, lack of sleep can lead to hallucinations, etc.), but all counseling systems and theories that are not aligned with Biblical teaching must be rejected as inaccurate.
Biblical counseling methodology emphasizes data gathering and the right application of God's truth to the situation at hand, all while providing an environement of hope and encouragement. God's way works. Therefore, Biblical counseling provides true hope even in the darkest of circumstances.
